Rupert Cresswell. Design Direction Animation.

Hello. I'm Rupert Cresswell. I am a Designer, Director and Animator.

I graduated from Camberwell college of art with a First class degree in Graphic Design in 1999.
I went on to work in various production and post-prodution houses in Soho before settling as a print designer in a north London design firm.
I was responsible for the complete design process from liaising with clients on initial briefs to personally outputting plates and overseeing the print process. I eventually became their senior designer.

Having always tinkered around with music since college, I left my job in 2005 when my band was signed to an American indie label based in Los Angeles. We recorded an album, two e.p's, and various singles. We toured the US twice over 6 months, traveling to 30 states and headlining festivals in New York City and SXWS in Austin Texas. The band folded in 2006 and I returned to London.

I began by working closely with Michael Moloney Studio on an extensive list of projects as a freelance designer, initially designing and illustrating - but eventually producing more motion graphics work. I began to take on freelance projects from a variety of clients such as Orange, Red Bee Media, Sky One, National Geographic, CNET tv, LBi, UKTV, CNN, E4 and most recently Bloomberg Television.

In this time I won a Gold for Best Design - Promax Europe 2008, and a Silver for Title Design in the New York Festival Awards 2009.

Bloomberg offered me a 6 month freelance contract to overhaul the channel's promos, after which time I was made permanent in Sept 2008. Over the last year I have worked on larger projects as the channel seeked to redefine itself, going through lengthy process of change. I lead the design on an initial re-invention of the channel's product as it went from 5 separate European Channels to one UK based European channel. As the network moved towards a more extensive re-branding, I pitched firstly internally, then against outside agencies in the US, successfully winning the opportunity to rebrand the global Television network with its new look channels in US, Asia and the UK. This process is currently in the final stages ready for a September global relaunch of Bloomberg Television.
